Guy Manning

Guy is an insolvency litigator. He joined Campbells in 2005 and was made a partner in our Litigation and Insolvency Department in 2011, having spent the first eight years of his career working for a major London law firm.

Qualifications and admissions:

  • Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, 1999 (non-practising)
  • Attorney at Law Cayman Islands, 2005

Areas of practice and expertise:

Guy advises and appears in the Cayman Islands Courts on behalf of liquidators, creditors, investors, managers, directors, and service providers in relation to a broad range of pre and post liquidation disputes. His practice principally involves distressed and failed investment funds and he has acted in relation to many of the highest profile fund disputes and liquidations before the Cayman Courts. Recent notable cases include acting for the successful petitioners in Culross Global SPC Limited v Strategic Turnaround Master Partnership, Limited [2010] UKPC 33 (the leading Privy Council case on the status of redeeming investors in a fund) and Re Heriot African Trade Finance Fund Limited (where, despite the opposition of a majority of investors, our client obtained a winding up order on the just and equitable ground against a fund whose management were attempting to conduct a “soft” liquidation of its own affairs).

Recognition and awards:

Guy is “warmly regarded by peers and clients, who describe him as “one to watch”” (Chambers and Partners 2011).
