Stu Sybersma
Stuart Sybersma is a partner with Deloitte in the Cayman Islands with responsibility for the operations of the firm’s Financial Advisory Services department. In this role Stuart specialises in providing insolvency, restructuring and dispute consulting services to hedge funds and other Cayman Islands domiciled entities. In addition to advising hedge funds and their stakeholders on restructuring alternatives, he has been appointed as a Controller of hedge fund companies by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as well as been appointed as Inspector, Provisional Liquidator and Official Liquidator over such companies by the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands following from petitions of stakeholders in contentious situations. In addition to these roles, Stuart has also served as Voluntary Liquidator and advisor to numerous Cayman Islands registered hedge funds which were wound up due to poor investment performance or change in circumstance.
Mr Sybersma is a member of the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants and is Canadian qualified Chartered Accountant, Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional, and Certified Fraud Examiner. He currently serves as one of the founding board members of the Cayman Islands chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Industry.
